EMIT Hardware

This section includes information about each of the different EMIT hardware

Firmware upgrade

The firmware in EMIT hardware can be upgraded by using eUpgrade

Details on how to use eUpgrade to update firmware

Control Hardware (Set Time/Code etc.)

If the software used together with the hardware does not support setting time/code in the hardware you can use TIME by EMIT to do that.

Details on how to use TIME by EMIT to control hardware

TFP (Touch Free Pro)

alt test The Emit Touch-Free Pro (TFP) is the latest touch-free control unit for orienteering - and other sports where passings are recorded. The TFP sends a continous eLine signal containing the control’s code. The range of this signal is up to 65 cm - depending on the speed of the runner. The control code and passing time are stored in all emiTags that enters this field. Details and specification of TFP control stations

ETS1 (EMIT time station)

alt test ETS1 is EMITs timingstation when using the emiTag system. ETS1 replaces the traditional clock and registers the time when an emiTag passes the electronic loop (internal or external) of the ETS1.

Firmware release notes:

ESD2 (EMIT start display)

alt test ESD2 is a digital start clock designed for orientering, cross-country skiing, ski orienteering, bicycle, biathlon and all other events that use interval start.

The display have two lines with 6 digits that can show both numbers and lowercase/uppercase letters. The clock time is normally shown on the upper line while the startnumber and countdown to start is shown on the lower line. The 5 last seconds of countdown can be marked with a high beep

Firmware release notes:

ECB1 (EMIT finish station)

alt test ECB1 is EMITs finish station when using the emiTag system. ECB1 replaces the traditional finish clock, and registers the time when an emiTag passes.

ETS1 can also be used as finish station

ECB1 and emiTags can be used for timing in many different sports, both for traning and competition. Today ECB1/ETS1 and emiTags are used activly in cross-country skiing, biathlon, ski-orienteering, orienteering, bicycling, triathlon and public running events among others.

Firmware release notes:

eLink

alt test eLink is mainly designed to be used for intermediate times in orienteering and ski-orienteering since it can be used together both with the emiTag system and ordinary EMIT cards when used together with EMIT ePost. eLink receives data from punches on for example TFP units and forward information about the punch to the EMIT GPRS-Server for use in timing software.

eLink does not include a eLine that activates the emiTag, it just listens to punches done on other equipment such as TFP and ETS1. Data is stored locally in the eLink and also uploaded to the EMIT internet GPRS-server.

eLink can also be used together with the EMIT ePost system to upload data when ordinary emit cards are used.

Firmware release notes:

eScan

alt test eScan is EMITs new reader hardware that reads all types of cards and emiTags.

eScan is designed as a barcode scanner with a pistol grip and a button to initiate readout. A display shows number and time and a LED-diod and a built in vibrator confirms a successful read.

eScan have a built in rechargeable battery thas is charged with an USB-cable.

Firmware release notes:

ECU emiTag reader

alt test ECU1 card reader is used to read data out of a emiTag. It can also be used to read battery status and card number among other things. It can also be used to program a custom number into the emiTag.

ECU1 is the same size as a USB memory stick, and is connected directly to a free USB-port of the PC (either directly or with an USB extention cord)
